CHEF MICHAEL PETERSON has been a passionate devotee of the kitchen for three decades. After honing his skills at the world’s premier culinary college, The Culinary Institute of America, Michael trained in Paris at the prestigious Le Grenadine. Returning home to northern Michigan, Michael and his business partner opened their first restaurant, Spencer Creek in 1993, where Michael served as chef and co-owner. In 2001, he refined his expertise with the launch of Lulu’s Bistro in nearby Bellaire. Michael continues his culinary success as the owner and executive chef of Siren Hall in Elk Rapids, serving fresh seafood and local cuisine.
Rebecca Peterson, co-owner of Lulu’s Bistro and partner of Chef Michael, is to be credited for the classically modern backdrop at Lulu’s. Rebecca attended NYU where she gleaned interior design experience that delights guests at both Lulu’s and Siren Hall. Rebecca is a native of Antrim County.
HENRY BISSON, CHEF DE CUISINE
Chef de Cuisine Henry Bisson has been with Lulu’s Bistro since its inception. He joined Lulu’s with a degree from the esteemed Great Lakes Culinary Institute in Traverse City, Michigan. Henry brings with him an impressive resume with experience cultivated from The Dining Room at the Salishan Lodge in Gleneden Beach, Oregon; the Black Fish Café with Chef Robert Pounding – named one of the top ten chefs in the Pacific Northwest by NW Magazine; and at 21 Federal on Nantucket Island.
MINDY BISSON, GENERAL MANAGER
Teaming up with her husband Henry, General Manager Mindy Bisson has also been with Lulu’s Bistro from its nascent stages. While attending Central Michigan University and Ferris State to pursue a career in social work, Mindy worked full time in the hospitality industry. Mindy’s path led to Lulu’s after a growing passion for food and wine inspired her to make a career change. Today, Mindy is the General Manager of both Lulu’s Bistro and Siren Hall.
